Fleet Manager / Regional Distribution Manager

Job Location: Lebanon, PA

Department: Operations / Distribution

Reports To: Director of Operations / Senior Operations Leadership

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Travel: Regular regional travel required

Overview

The Fleet Manager / Regional Distribution Manager oversees the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the company’s fleet and regional distribution network. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for fleet assets, drivers, transportation and delivery performance, regulatory compliance, and distribution operations across multiple locations.

The position works closely with production, sales, customer service, maintenance, and distribution teams to ensure products are delivered safely, accurately, on time, and at an appropriate cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee company trucks, trailers, and transportation equipment, including utilization, preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and replacement planning.
  • Manage regional transportation and distribution activities to ensure safe, accurate, and timely deliveries.
  • Optimize routes, delivery schedules, fleet utilization, and transportation capacity.
  • Lead, coach, and hold drivers and transportation personnel accountable for safety, performance, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, state, and local transportation requirements, including driver qualifications, hours-of-service, inspections, licensing, and required records.
  • Review accidents, incidents, equipment damage, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage outside carriers and transportation vendors as needed.
  • Provide operational oversight and support to regional distribution locations and establish consistent procedures and performance standards.
  • Monitor fleet and transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, tires, freight, and outside-carrier expenses.
  • Track key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, fleet utilization, vehicle downtime, maintenance costs, safety incidents, and driver performance.
  • Support fleet and transportation budgeting, equipment purchasing, growth planning, and distribution capacity needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, service, productivity, and operating costs.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, transportation, distribution, logistics, or related operations leadership.
  • Experience managing commercial vehicles, drivers, and transportation operations.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and fleet repair programs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region.

Preferred

  • Fleet or distribution experience in manufacturing, building products, construction materials, metals, roofing, or a similar industry.
  • Experience with flatbed trucks, trailers, forklifts, and long or oversized materials.
  • Experience with GPS/telematics, electronic logging, routing, transportation management, or fleet-maintenance systems.
  • CDL or previous commercial driving experience.
  • Experience overseeing transportation across multiple facilities or states.

Key Measures of Success

Success will be measured by maintaining a safe and compliant fleet, improving delivery performance and fleet utilization, reducing preventable accidents and unnecessary transportation costs, maintaining effective preventive maintenance programs, developing a dependable driver team, and establishing consistent distribution standards across regional operations.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in office, warehouse, manufacturing, yard, and outdoor environments; inspect vehicles and operational facilities; travel between company locations; and respond to transportation or equipment issues outside normal business hours when necessary.
