Fleet Mechanic

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Fleet Mechanic to join our team. Under limited supervision you will perform work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, facility, and related work as assigned. You must have a strong work ethic, be an effective communicator, be a dependable team player, and have solid interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment
  • Perform inspections: routine and state, and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports

Skills

Must have considerable knowledge of:

  • Safety and Training - exercise safe work ethics & meet training requirements assigned
  • Methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs

Must Have a Working Knowledge Of

  • Paint and body work
  • Mechanical design and fabrication
  • Electrical systems, including computerized induction/igniting systems

Must Be Skilled In

  • Use of power and hand tools
  • Use of diagnostic equipment
  • Acetylene and electric arc welding
  • Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic progress

Must Have The Ability To

  • Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field on a 24-hour basis
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 110 lbs.
  • Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and public
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Keep track of parts and supply invoices
