Role Description
The Fleet Mechanic & Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Penzance, responsible for maintaining and repairing company vehicles, plant, and heavy equipment used in scaffolding operations.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out scheduled maintenance
- Diagnosing faults
- Performing mechanical repairs
- Ensuring equipment is safe and compliant with relevant regulations
- Conducting preventive maintenance checks
- Recording service and repair activities
- Coordinating with operations staff to minimize downtime
- Responding to urgent breakdowns
- Assisting with basic workshop organization
- Inventory of parts and tools
- Continuous improvement of maintenance procedures to support reliable fleet performance

Qualifications
- Strong skills in general Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance programs, including routine inspections and scheduled servicing.
- Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment commonly used in construction or scaffolding environments.
- Effective Troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and related systems.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in vehicle mechanics, plant maintenance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and ability to work safely in a workshop and site environment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and service documentation and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence; experience with commercial vehicles or HGVs is an advantage.

This is a full-time, hands-on role working alongside our Fleet Manager — covering vehicle maintenance and repairs, scaffolding material welding, HGV driving across the South West, and providing relief fleet management cover.
We're also expanding into Electric Vehicles — so fully funded EV training is on offer, alongside hoist maintenance training.
