Derby
Position Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the Trent XWB Commercial Aviation Value Stream team as Fleet Planner.
With over 600 aircraft in service and a growing orderbook of 1300 aircraft, the Trent XWB Value Stream covers the full scope of activity for both engines in service and development. This role, reporting to the Product Services Manager, is responsible for utilising the demand planning policy and developing an aftermarket engine removal plan over the short-term (13 week) & medium-term (up to 3 years). The role operates as a key planning interface between the Customer Regional teams and Aftermarket Operations.
What you will be doing:
- Inform and deploy the Value Stream's fleet strategy and policy into an operationally deliverable plan
- Aggregate & optimise fleet level maintenance plans using intelligent planning techniques to maximise fleet health.
- Own the removal demand plan for the allocated product.
- Identify, coordinate and mitigate specific customer fleet operational risks.
- Create lease engine allocation plans.
- Maintenance of relevant fleet planning elements in Maximo for Aviation.
- Actively participate in global fleet health governance and improvement activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
