Navantia UK is a UK incorporated company, subsidiary of Spanish Navantia, created to work with UK industrial partners in shipbuilding, defence and in offshore wind energy. With a history that goes back more than 300 hundred years, Navantia is a world reference in the design, building, integration and life cycle support of state-of-the-art war ships for the Spanish Navy and international customers and has extensive experience in ToT programmes.
Role Overview
Navantia UK is looking for an experienced Fleet Solid Support Product Security Lead to take ownership of product security delivery across the FSS Programme.
This is a key leadership role focused on defining, implementing, and assuring the security strategy for a major UK maritime defence programme.
You’ll lead the delivery of secure-by-design solutions across the ship platform and IT/OT architecture, ensuring cyber security, information assurance, physical security, and product security requirements are embedded throughout the vessel lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting to the FSS Programme Director, you’ll act as Navantia UK’s focal point for product security within the FSS Delivery Team.
- Leading product security engagement with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams
- Owning and delivering key security plans, including product security, physical security, and security management documentation
- Managing product security risks, contract change responses, vulnerabilities, and remediation activity
- Coordinating project Security Owners across the nine Targets of Assurance
- Overseeing TEMPEST, Factory Security Testing, asset database delivery, and enabling security infrastructure
- Representing Navantia UK at Security Working Groups and supporting wider programme governance

Location
Remote working is available, with claimable travel as required for programme meetings, including Bristol, Spain, Belfast, and supplier premises across the UK and Europe.
Security Clearance
Candidates must hold UK Security Clearance at SC level as a minimum. DV clearance is not required.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a proactive security professional with significant cyber security experience in UK defence maritime environments, including:
- Experience working within MOD or defence regulatory frameworks
- Strong knowledge of UK MOD security accreditation and secure-by-design approaches
- Experience securing complex IT/OT systems and working with network architectures
- Understanding of secure systems engineering, trust boundaries, multi-domain systems, and cross-domain security
- Knowledge of TEMPEST measures and relevant standards, including Def Stan 08-050, Def Stan 59-411, NCSC GPG14, and SDIP-29
- Experience with NCSC good practice guides, Defence Standards, JSP604, JSP453, and relevant risk management frameworks
- Minimum UK Security Clearance at SC level
Desirable Experience
- Experience transitioning solutions from accreditation to secure-by-design certification pathways
- Penetration testing or Factory Security Testing experience
- Knowledge of maritime systems and shipboard integration challenges
- Chartered Engineer status, CISSP, CISM, or an equivalent security certification
- Experience working in change-controlled environments and managing multiple internal and external stakeholders
