Company Description

Sport Local Action is dedicated to amplifying the great work of Sport for Good organisations UK wide and to removing financial barriers between young people and playing sport. Through programmes such as Sports Bank and Walk92, Sport Local Action supports accessible, community-based sporting activities. Volunteers contribute to projects that help expand participation, improve wellbeing, and strengthen local networks. Joining Sport Local Action offers the opportunity to support meaningful community outcomes while gaining experience in sport-related initiatives.

Role Description

This flexible volunteer role focuses on content creation, jobs board support, and research activities, carried out in a remote setting.

  • Content: Draft and edit news articles, social media posts, and community updates highlighting local sport initiatives and opportunities - for our website, weekly newsletter, and social channels. A Head of Content lead is also sought to steer this output alongside our Founder.
  • Jobs Board: Help maintain and update our Sport for Good jobs board - collecting listings, organising information, and ensuring postings are accurate and current.
  • Research: Gather data on community sport programmes, map local activities, and summarise insights for our Sport Impact Hub and initiatives like Sports Bank and Walk92.

Qualifications

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create clear, engaging content for online and community audiences
  • Ability to organise and manage information, including maintaining listings, databases, or online boards with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Research skills, such as gathering information from multiple sources, analysing basic trends, and presenting concise summaries
  • Comfort working remotely, using digital collaboration tools, and managing tasks independently with reliable time management
  • Interest in community development, sport for social impact, and inclusive participation in local activities
  • Professionalism, respect for diversity, and commitment to non-discriminatory, gender-neutral communication
  • Previous experience in content creation, community volunteering, or sport-related projects is beneficial but not required
