Role Description
The Flight Dispatcher is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient dispatch of all flights under the Operations Team. Operating under the guidance of the lead Dispatcher and Reporting to the Operations manager, the Flight Dispatcher ensures that all dispatched flights adhere fully to company, regulatory, and client requirements. The role requires proactive forward planning, situational awareness, regulatory compliance, and a commitment to delivering the daily flying programme to the highest safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Operations / Service Delivery
- Overall responsibility for filing and dispatching all flight plans, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Forward planning for next-day operations, including pre-dispatches and preparation of required dispatch documentation.
- Maintaining situational awareness of global weather, airfields, aircraft status, political and safety risks that may impact flight planning or route selection.
- Upselling of Flightworx services from across the company.

Operations / Safety
- Responsibility for the creation, quality check (QC), and release of Risk Assessments (RAs). When RAs are drafted by a Flight Operations Officer, a licensed Flight Dispatcher must complete a QC prior to release.
- Conducting Flight Watch in full compliance with regulatory and company standards, ensuring aircraft progress is monitored and recorded accurately.
- Monitoring ATC slots / CTOTs and issuing efficient re-routes to mitigate delays.
- Ensuring compliant use of LEON, PPS, ForeFlight, AFTN, SITA, CFMU and associated systems.
- Raising safety issues promptly through the SMS and ensuring dispatch activity meets Operations LPM standards.
- Conducting comprehensive handovers with oncoming staff and the Operations Manager during shift changeovers and prior to and upon return from any periods of absence from the office.
- Keeping current with the company ERP procedures and initiating / assisting in the process as called on.
Client Relationship Management
- Acting as a key operational contact for dispatch-related queries.
- Ensuring clients receive accurate, timely dispatch documentation and updates relating to flight progress.
- Helping to maintain and develop relationships with all clients. Providing a key point of contact for each operator and maintaining regular liaison with key client stakeholders. Taking responsibility for swiftly rectifying any operational issue or problem raised by any client coordinating action across Flightworx departments as appropriate.

Communication
- Ensuring effective communication between all Flightworx departments to support dispatch requirements and operational priorities.
Management / Supervisory
- Conducting clear handovers with Operations Supervisors and Dispatch colleagues during shift transitions.
- When not actively dispatching, supporting Flight Operations Officers with service coordination and day-to-day operational tasks.
Administrative
- Ensuring all dispatch-related services are accurately billed and noted within the LEON system.
Skills Required – Flight Dispatcher
- Aviation operations experience essential; dispatch licence preferred.
- Strong decision-making ability under time pressure.
- Highly developed planning and analytical skills
- A good, confident telephone manner essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, meeting ICAO level 4
- Strong situational awareness and ability to interpret aviation weather and NOTAMs.
- Ability to prioritise rapidly changing requirements.
- Confident, flexible, and proactive approach to operational problem-solving.
- Strong working knowledge of flight planning and operational systems (PPS, ForeFlight, LEON, AFTN, CFMU, etc.).
