Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor delivers exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction in accordance with aviation regulations and FlightSafety’s Training Principles.


Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment training courses
  • Develop and prepare training materials to support training delivery, meeting client needs while adhering to applicable curricula
  • Evaluate trainee progress and recommend qualification or additional training as needed
  • Complete accurate training records specific to each client, ensuring success in achieving their objectives
  • Identify client training issues and seek assistance prior to execution
  • Maintain Instructor qualifications in compliance with regulatory requirements

Minimum Experience

  • Must hold or have held a FAA / EASA ATPL licence
  • No less than 1,500 hours as a pilot of multi-pilot aircraft OR
  • For single-pilot types, 1,500 hours in multi-pilot operations plus 500 hours as PIC on single-pilot aircraft

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices
  • Familiarity with common aviation regulations
  • Proven ability to manage classes effectively and teach with impact
  • Developing first-level facilitation skills
  • Engaging customer service abilities
  • Demonstrable ability to receive feedback and apply it to development

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regular tasks: Using hands/fingers, handling tools, talking, hearing

  • Common movements: Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing

  • Moderate motion: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling

  • Ability requirements:

    • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing adjustability
    • Lifting proprietary parts: Frequently up to 25 pounds; regularly up to 10 pounds
  • Additional demands:

    • Using and moving around mechanical parts while instructing
    • Emergency responses, including exiting a malfunctioning simulator in severe attitude
