Flight Operations Officer - DHL Air (UK) Ltd
Working Hours: Full time position - rotating day/night roster, with weekend shifts included
Location: EMA Cargo West, East Midlands Airport, Derby, DE74 2TR
Salary: Competitive
DHL Air (UK) Ltd is the largest all-cargo air carrier in the UK, operating a fleet of B757-200, B767-300 and B777- 200 aircraft on worldwide operations. Part of the DHL Express team with our headquarters at East Midlands Airport, we wish to enhance the team to deliver our customer promise of; Excellence, Simply Delivered.
We are looking to appoint a self-motivated individual that is people and service focused to join our 24/7 OCC team. Someone who gets it right first time, shows passion in their work and has the “Can Do” spirit that made DHL world leading in Logistics.
To qualify for this opening you will need an impressive Flight Operations background, possess first class communication skills and the ability to take a pro-active and enthusiastic approach to contribute positively to a varied and pressured work load whilst adapting to changing priorities as they arise. Exemplary time keeping and attention to detail are essential.
The Role
To ensure all DHL Air flights are dispatched and operated in a safe and timely manner along with efficient flight planned routes in accordance with DHL’s fuel policy and proactive flight tracking services.

The Requirements
- Proven flight operations experience, with a clear understanding of TAF, METAR and NOTAM bulletins, aircraft scheduling and a familiarity with IATA/ICAO airport codes
- A good working knowledge of LIDO Flight, or similar CFP systems, along with IT based applications, including NOP portal and MS Office
- General flight watch disciplines to include: Customer and supplier liaison, inflight monitoring for all stages of flight, being pro-active with solutions to any problems that may occur and to ensure of an efficient and on time schedule
- Previous experience in airport slot requests, overflight application procedures and at preference ETOPS planning
- Knowledge of aircraft and cargo handling equipment and systems
- Hold five GCSE’s – 9-4/A-C (or equivalent) including Math's and English
- A strong working knowledge of MS Office packages including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern of 12 hour shifts consisting days and nights
- Previous flight planning experience is preferred, those without flight planning experience may be considered for a junior position
