Job Description:

A vacancy for a Computational Fluid Dynamics engineer (m/f/d) has arisen within the Engineering Flight Physics Capability Teams within Airbus Civil Aircraft in Filton.

The mission of the Capability Operations domain is to support, develop and deliver world-class customer-oriented computational simulation means, advanced studies and services in particular for aerodynamics disciplines, through technical excellence, continuous innovation and realistic commitments.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has progressed rapidly during the last several decades and has fundamentally changed the aircraft design process. Supporting the aero designer at the beginning, the advances of this computational science, closely coupled with the rapid progress of high-performance computing hardware at the same time, have become an essential capability in the simulation-based engineering design process and also in aero-modelling. The CFD applications cover a large spectrum of the flight envelope like attached high Reynolds number subsonic and transonic flows, open rotor flows, separated internal and external flows, aeroelastic, aerothermal and multiphase flows.

We are looking for an engineer with wide competencies in applied CFD. The candidate will be capable of performing all advanced internal and external flow studies (RANS, URANS, and LES) on a complex aircraft configuration, including geometric preparation, mesh generation, analysis, and post-processing. They will have to show a strong knowledge of ANSA meshing, adaptive mesh techniques, CODA CFD chain, Aero CFD Post-processing and good experience with advanced CFD studies in an industrial environment. They will also have to know how to install/deploy/maintain CFD tools and to develop/maintain/debug advanced Python scripts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Ensuring full support for our transnational end-users on the full E2E CFD process, i.e., ANSA Meshing, CODA CFD runs and post-processing.
  • Doing complex applications in aerodynamic, aeroelastic and aeroacoustic simulations, interacting with a wide range of customers involved in aerodynamic shape design and data modelling.
  • Interacting with key Research and Development partners and other stakeholders.

Moreover, you will:

  • Work closely within a transnational capability development team (Europe and India).
  • Contribute to animating the interfaces between Airbus and its external research establishments as a capability team member.
  • Supervise PhD students on a wide range of CFD subjects.
  • Support the overall global strategy for Airbus computational simulation.
  • Be part of the assessment of CFD tools by benchmarking COTS or by developing proofs of concept.

Required Skills:

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • 3 years of industrial experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics methods in aerodynamics, transonic flows and propeller configurations.
  • Good knowledge of CODA CFD chain use and ANSA Meshing tool.
  • Mastering advanced object-oriented languages like Python or C++ is mandatory.
