The Role
We are looking for a Flight Simulator Instructor to lead the delivery of flight simulator instruction within the Faculty's Aviation Operations provision and to act as the Faculty's specialist authority on flight simulation and aviation training.
The role is accountable for the standard, quality, and regulatory readiness of the Faculty's simulator training and leads its progression towards Civil Aviation Authority approval and Approved Training Organisation status. Also, the role is the sole specialist in this field within the Faculty, and the postholder will lead simulator-based training designed, delivery, and development as the provision grows.
The Person
You will lead the delivery of flight simulator instruction across Aviation Operations programmes, ensuring that all simulator sessions, briefings, and debriefings achieve high professional standards. You will oversee the development and continuous improvement of the simulator training curriculum, exercises, and scenarios, maintaining alignment with programme requirements, industry practice, and regulatory standards. As the Faculty's specialist in flight simulation and aviation training, you will provide expert guidance on instructional standards and the future development of simulator-based provision.
You will lead preparations for Civil Aviation Authority approval and Approved Training Organisation status, acting as the principal contact for regulatory matters. You will make independent judgements on student competence and progression, ensure the safe and effective operation of simulator facilities, and oversee maintenance and calibration priorities. You will also support the growth of Aviation Operations through new teaching, training, and partnership opportunities, while representing the Faculty at recruitment, outreach, and engagement events.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
