Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modeller
Lincolnshire | 3 days on site per week
£43,929 - £48,456 + Local Government Pension Scheme + 9-Day Fortnight
Most modellers never get to see whether their work actually made a difference. In this role, you will.
- You'll be building the hydraulic models that help shape major infrastructure investment decisions across critical drainage networks, pumping stations and flood risk assets.
- More importantly, you'll see those same projects progress from survey and modelling through to funding approval, construction and delivery.
- Few modelling roles offer that level of influence, ownership, and visibility.
This is a genuinely specialist modelling appointment. The vast majority of your time will be focused on hydraulic and hydrological modelling, supporting a significant ongoing programme of capital investment and asset refurbishment. You won't simply be reviewing consultant reports or inherited models. You'll be responsible for developing and building the models that provide the technical evidence behind real engineering, operational, and investment decisions.
- Working across a variety of complex catchments, you'll use topographical survey information to develop hydrology, assess catchment behaviour, and understand how proposed interventions will impact water levels, drainage performance, and flood risk.
- Your modelling will support major pumping station refurbishment projects, flood risk infrastructure improvements, funding applications, and long-term investment planning.
- Every piece of analysis has a purpose, and every recommendation has the potential to influence how future projects are delivered.

Unlike many consultancy environments, you'll have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work. You'll follow projects from the earliest stages through to completion, gaining a genuine understanding of how your modelling contributes to protecting homes, businesses, agricultural land, and critical infrastructure. You'll work closely with engineers and operational teams who rely on your expertise to make informed decisions about some of the most important infrastructure assets in the region.

What we're looking for:
- Experienced hydraulic, hydrological, or flood risk modellers who are comfortable building and developing models themselves.
- Essential Experience: Using HEC-RAS or TUFLOW.
- Strong understanding of catchment behaviour, hydrology, water level management, and the factors that influence modelling outputs.
- Highly Beneficial Experience: Working with GIS, LIDAR, topographical survey data, and environmental datasets.
