About The Role
Based at our Bennet Road Depot (Reading, RG2 0QX), you will carry out floor laying and associated repair work in a variety of Council-owned or managed properties including houses, flats, and maisonettes.
Work will be carried out across Reading with no long-distance travel required.
This role involves working mainly in occupied homes, so delivering excellent customer service and treating residents with respect is essential.
Your Duties Will Include
- Installing a range of floor coverings including vinyl, laminate, and modern flooring systems
- Preparing subfloors and carrying out flooring repairs
- Assessing materials required for jobs and collecting them from stores or suppliers
- Completing work orders, job sheets, and timesheets accurately
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site cleanliness
- Identifying additional repair needs where necessary
- Following health and safety procedures at all times

We Provide
- A fully equipped council vehicle for work use

Requirements
- City & Guilds / NVQ in Floorcovering (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in domestic flooring, repairs, and refurbishment environments
- Knowledge of building trades and construction
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong customer-service approach when working in occupied homes
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Full UK driving licence (required for travelling between properties)
