Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Floorlayer role based in Darlington. The Floorlayer will be responsible for:
- Preparing subfloors
- Measuring and cutting materials
- Installing a range of floor coverings to a high standard

- Removing existing flooring
- Ensuring surfaces are level and clean
- Fitting carpets, vinyl, laminate, or other materials
- Finishing edges and joins neatly

The role involves:
- Using hand and power tools safely
- Following job specifications
- Maintaining a tidy work area
The Floorlayer will interact with customers on-site, provide basic guidance on care and maintenance of flooring, and work collaboratively with colleagues to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- Practical experience in floorlaying, including preparation, installation, and finishing of common flooring materials.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and accurately, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Basic numeracy and measurement skills for calculating materials, cutting to size, and reading job specifications.
- Good physical fitness and manual handling capability for lifting, carrying, and working on feet for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills and professional customer service when working in homes and business premises.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time and tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Previous experience in flooring, construction, or a related trade is preferred; vocational training or apprenticeships in floorlaying are an advantage.
- Valid UK driving licence and reliable transport to reach job sites in and around Darlington is highly beneficial.
