Role: Flying Start Health Manager - Gwynedd, Band 7
Hours: 7.5 hrs, Fixed Term
Gwynedd Flying Start are looking to recruit a Part-time (7.5 hours), Band 7 Team Manager within the Community Public Health Team, specifically for Health Visiting.
Responsibilities:
The Team Manager is responsible for the management and leadership of the Flying Start Health Visiting teams within the community, ensuring the delivery of a safe, high-quality evidence-based service for children and their families through the Healthy Child Wales Programme.
Main Duties:
- Provide operational management to all health employed staff within the team.
- Oversee the delivery of the Health element of the Flying Start service on a day-to-day basis.
- Represent Gwynedd Flying Start at a North Wales and All Wales level.
- Work closely with the universal Health Visiting service at both management and practitioner levels.
- Monitor sickness/absence and undertake absence reviews and performance reviews.
- Provide regular clinical supervision and support to staff to ensure safe and best practice that meets professional requirements.

Essential criteria:
- NMC registered nurse with qualifications appropriate to the service area managed.
- Continued professional and management development.
- Relevant degree.
- Recognised and relevant management qualification (must be achieved within 1-2 years).
- Management experience at band 6 or above.
- Relevant clinical experience.
- Child Protection/Safeguarding training at level 3.
- Service and/or policy development.
Desirable criteria:
- Evidence of mentoring.
- Assessment and/or teaching.
- Evidence of financial management skills and ability.
- Evidence of change management.
Skills:
- Leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritise work to tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinker.
- Effective communication at team levels and with other agencies and general public.
- Developed interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate using a variety of formats.
- Time management skills.
- Team working/motivational skills.
- Evidence of making positive changes which improve outcomes.
- Able to produce business plans with minimal support.
- Able to manage a budget.
Knowledge:
- Professional qualification.
- Evidence of professional and personal development.
- Working knowledge of Children’s Act and Safeguarding Procedures.
Desirable criteria:
- Research and audit skills.
- IT skills – ECDL or equivalent.
