Flying Start Health Manager - Gwynedd, Band 7

7.5 hrs, Fixed Term.

Role Description

Gwynedd Flying Start is seeking to recruit a Part-time (7.5 hours), Band 7 Team Manager within the Community Public Health Team, specifically for Health Visiting.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management and leadership of the Flying Start Health Visiting teams within the community.
  • Ensure the delivery of a safe, high-quality, evidence-based service for children and their families through the Healthy Child Wales Programme.
  • Represent Gwynedd Flying Start at a North Wales and All Wales level.
  • Work closely with the universal Health Visiting service at both management and practitioner levels.
  • Provide operational management to all health employed staff within the team.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Health element of the Flying Start service on a day-to-day basis, including monitoring sickness/absence and undertaking absence and performance reviews.
  • Provide regular clinical supervision and support to staff to ensure safe and best practice that meets professional requirements.

Requirements:

  • Experienced, highly motivated Health Visitor with excellent communication skills.
  • Meets the requirements of the Personal Specification and Job Description.
  • Experience of the Flying Start model, HCWP, and working in partnership with Local Authority would be an advantage but is not essential.

  • Self-motivated individual with excellent management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Accountable to the Flying Start Service Coordinator.
  • Provide regular clinical supervision and support to staff.
  • Make a significant contribution and difference to the lives of Flying Start families.

Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • NMC registered nurse with qualifications appropriate to the service area managed.
  • Continued professional and management development.
  • Relevant degree.
  • Recognised and relevant management qualification (must be achieved 1-2 years).

Desirable criteria:

  • Evidence of mentoring.
  • Assessment and/or teaching.

Experience

Essential criteria:

  • Management experience at band 6 or above.
  • Relevant clinical experience.
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding training at level 3.
  • Service and/or policy development.

Desirable criteria:

  • Evidence of financial management skills and ability.
  • Evidence of change management.

Skills

Essential criteria:

  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work to tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Effective communication at team levels and with other agencies and general public.
  • Developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate using a variety of formats.
