Facilities Management Transformation Consultant (Retail)

Location: London (primarily office-based with occasional UK site travel)

Duration: Initial 3-month contract with the potential to extend into a 12-18 month transformation programme

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading UK retailer on a high-profile review and redesign of its Facilities Management (FM) strategy and operating model. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining future FM service requirements, shaping supplier strategies, leading procurement and tender activities, and helping establish effective outsourced service provider arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and redesign the Facilities Management operating model and service delivery strategy
  • Define future-state FM service requirements across a large retail estate
  • Assess and develop supplier and outsourcing strategies
  • Lead or support market engagement and competitive tender processes
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and support contract negotiations
  • Oversee supplier mobilisation and transition activities
  • Establish governance frameworks and performance management processes
  • Manage relationships with outsourced FM providers and key stakeholders
  • Support wider transformation objectives and operational improvements

Ideal Experience

  • Managing or overseeing relationships with providers such as City FM, Arcus, Mitie, CBRE, ISS, or similar
  • Leading major retail FM accounts for Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose, John Lewis, or comparable retailers
  • Delivering FM procurement, supplier selection, outsourcing and contract management programmes
  • Leading supplier mobilisation, governance, service assurance, and supplier performance management activities
  • Operating within complex retail, distribution, logistics, or multi-site environments

Candidate Profile

  • Deep knowledge of Facilities Management outsourcing models
  • Strong supplier management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience running or supporting large-scale procurement and tender exercises
  • Excellent commercial and contract management capability
  • Track record of delivering change and transformation within FM operations
