Company Description

Southwater Event Group is a hospitality and events consortium based in Telford, Shropshire. The group includes Telford International Centre, Holiday Inn Telford/Ironbridge, Ramada Telford, The International Hotel, and the integrated event production company StagecraftUK. Together, these businesses deliver conferences, exhibitions, live events, and hotel stays for a wide range of clients and guests. Team members benefit from working within a dynamic, customer-focused environment that combines hotel hospitality with large-scale event operations. The group offers opportunities to gain experience across multiple venues and services within a single organization.

Role Description

The FOH/Reception role is a full-time, on-site position based in Telford. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming guests, visitors, and delegates
  • Managing check-ins and check-outs
  • Providing information about facilities, events, and local amenities
  • Answering and directing phone calls
  • Handling email and in-person enquiries
  • Supporting bookings and reservations processes

  • Maintaining a professional front desk area
  • Processing basic administrative and clerical tasks
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth guest and event experiences

This position requires consistent, polite, and efficient service in a fast-paced hospitality and events environment. A mix of 2 shifts, 5 days a week 0630-1500 or 1430-2300. Bar training will be given as you may be required to serve our guests during busy periods.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with a diverse range of guests and clients.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and confident written communication.
  • Experience with receptionist duties and front-of-house operations, such as greeting visitors, managing check-ins, and directing enquiries.
  • Demonstrated phone etiquette and the ability to handle high volumes of calls while maintaining a calm and professional manner.
  • Clerical skills, including basic administrative tasks, data entry, and use of office and reservation systems.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
  • Comfort working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and event periods, as required.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, hotels, or events, and familiarity with reception or Opera systems is an advantage.
