Area Support Food Service Assistant

Location: Multiple Locations across the North East

Detail: Working Five Days out of Seven with a flexible approach to meet the business needs that will include Weekends and Evenings when required

Salary: £13.40 per hour plus mileage allowance. Due to the role covering the North East Region, your own car is essential.

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and organised Food Service Assistant to join our area support team in Durham and wider area. In this role, you will provide essential support across multiple food service locations, ensuring consistent standards of service delivery, food safety, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be flexible, efficient, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and professional conduct.

  • Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitisation of food preparation areas, equipment, and serving stations in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Assist with stock management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food items appropriately.
  • Support the setup and breakdown of dining areas and service stations.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, responding to queries and requests with professionalism.
  • Operate till systems and process payments accurately.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Monitor and report on food stock levels and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols and company policies.
  • Support area-wide initiatives and cover shifts across multiple locations as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food service, catering, or hospitality environments.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Strong people skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Excellent time keeping and reliability.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Valid driving license and access to own transport.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Basic numeracy skills for till operation and stock management.
  • Teamwork and collaborative approach to work.
  • Desirable: Experience with stock management systems or point-of-sale technology.
