We’re hiring a Food Technologist!
📍 Brownings the Bakers | Kilmarnock

We’re looking for a proactive, detail-focused Food Technologist to join our Technical Team, helping ensure our Bakery and Pie Factory products are safe, legal, consistent and meet the high quality standards our customers expect.
Reporting to our Technical Manager, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the business, combining hands-on factory support with technical documentation, product trials and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting our food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, GMP and allergen controls.
- Helping prepare for BRCGS, customer and regulatory audits.
- Investigating complaints and non-conformances, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
- Maintaining product specifications, ingredient declarations, allergen information and labels.
- Supporting product development, recipe reformulation, factory trials and shelf-life validation.
- Working with Production Teams to maintain standards and provide practical technical guidance.

What we’re looking for:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.
- Experience in food manufacturing, ideally bakery or short shelf-life products.
- A practical understanding of food safety, allergen management, labelling and factory operations.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A confident communicator who enjoys working across teams and solving problems.
- A hands-on approach and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Experience with BRCGS audits, NPD or recipe reformulation, alongside Food Safety or HACCP qualifications, would be an advantage.
