We're looking for a talented Forecasting Analyst to join our industry-leading Forecasting team. This is an opportunity to play a critical role in one of the UK's most innovative renewable energy businesses, where your work will directly influence trading performance, reduce imbalance costs and support the transition to a smarter, cleaner energy system.

Working alongside experienced forecasting specialists and reporting to the Head of Forecasting

You'll develop and enhance the models, data and forecasting capabilities that underpin our electricity trading operations. You'll have the freedom to innovate, test new approaches and help shape the next generation of forecasting technology.

How will I spend my time?

You'll combine data science, commercial insight and quantitative modelling to continually improve our forecasting capability. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining and enhancing electricity demand and renewable generation forecasting models.
  • Continuously improving forecasting accuracy to deliver measurable commercial value.
  • Managing the performance of our forecasting systems, ensuring forecasts are timely, reliable and continually refined.
  • Designing and validating new forecasting methodologies using scientific testing and robust analytical techniques.
  • Identifying valuable new data sources and evaluating their commercial benefit.
  • Providing market analysis that supports hedging strategies by exploring the relationship between forecasts, forward markets, system prices and imbalance costs.
  • Working closely with Trading, Data and Technology teams to integrate forecasting models into our evolving technology platform.
  • Collaborating with forecasting specialists to share knowledge, challenge ideas and drive continuous improvement.
  • Representing the Forecasting team internally and externally, contributing to the wider quantitative modelling community.
  • Supporting the evolution of our modern cloud-based data and analytics platform.

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

We're looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a genuine passion for forecasting and quantitative modelling.

You'll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a forecasting, quantitative analytics or predictive modelling role.
  • Experience within energy markets, or another sector where high-value forecasting is business critical.
  • A solid understanding of statistical modelling, model validation and performance evaluation.
