WM Donald are looking for self-motivated individuals, with previous experience in similar roles, who are looking to broaden their careers to work within a dynamic and expanding company. The successful individuals will have to demonstrate flexibility, motivation and commitment to providing a quality service.

About The Role

As a Foreman Ganger, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of site operations. Acting as the key link between site operatives and management, you will ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with company standards, client specifications, and statutory requirements.

You will play a critical role in maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance, quality, and customer service, while leading and supporting site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate site operatives to deliver works safely, efficiently, and to specification
  • Plan daily activities, including labour, plant, and material allocation in line with programme requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
  • Carry out and review site-specific risk assessments and ensure control measures are implemented
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, welfare, and environmental compliance at all times
  • Ensure correct use, inspection, and maintenance of plant, tools, and equipment
  • Liaise effectively with Site Management, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and client representatives
  • Maintain accurate site records, including site diaries, daily reports, and variation records
  • Order materials and manage site resources efficiently to minimise waste and maximise productivity
  • Deliver toolbox talks, task briefings, and team communications
  • Identify and report design, specification, or operational issues to management
  • Ensure safe working practices including traffic management, pedestrian safety, and working around utilities
  • Support a range of civil engineering activities including drainage, roadworks, concrete works, and infrastructure delivery
  • Promote a positive team culture, mentoring and supporting operatives

  • Proven experience as a Foreman Ganger or similar supervisory role
  • Strong background in civil engineering works
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil works
  • CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation and site procedures
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and work under pressure

Desirable

  • First Aid certification
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • NRSWA
  • CPCS / Plant tickets
  • Knowledge of temporary works (BS 5975)
  • Confined Spaces / Abrasive Wheels / Banksman-Slinger
  • Experience working to ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards
  • Experience on infrastructure or local authority projects
