Forensic Psychologist | Derbyshire
Salary: £50,500
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (flexibility available)
Contract: Permanent
An opportunity has come up for an HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist to join a small, well-established low secure service in Derbyshire. This is a setting where you will hold a manageable caseload, know every patient properly, and see the impact of your work directly rather than at arm's length. Full time at 37.5 hours per week, with genuine flexibility around how those hours are worked.
About the Role
Our client's service is a low secure unit supporting a small group of male patients with mental health needs. Because the unit is small, psychology input is closely integrated with the wider multidisciplinary team, and you will be a visible part of daily life on the ward rather than an occasional visitor. The service sits in a rural part of Derbyshire; the nearest railway station is a few miles away and local bus links are limited, so access to a vehicle is recommended.

What You'll Be Doing
- Complete timely assessments following referral and develop person-centred therapy plans using appropriate evidence-based interventions
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions, adapting treatments and activities to each patient's needs and therapy goals
- Manage an assigned caseload and work to agreed timescales for assessment, review and reporting
- Contribute psychological formulation to care planning and risk management alongside the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain regular communication with patients, colleagues and the wider team, keeping records and reports to a high standard
- Support the ward team's understanding of psychological approaches through advice, guidance and shared learning
- Uphold dignity, respect and high standards of care throughout
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A completed and recognised postgraduate qualification leading to eligibility for HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Current HCPC registration, or eligibility to register
- Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient environment

Preferred:
- British Psychological Society (BPS) registration
- Experience in secure, forensic or inpatient mental health settings
- Access to a vehicle, given the location of the service
