About The Role

Pertemps Dudley Industrial seeks a Forklift Driver for a full-time, temp-to-perm role in Cradley. Pay is £13.09 hourly, working Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm. The successful applicant will handle steel and heavy materials within a manufacturing setting, operating both a counterbalance truck and an overhead crane. Duties cover safe movement, loading and unloading of raw stock plus completed goods across the site. Previous experience with metal fabrication or engineering is beneficial. Strong awareness of health and safety rules, alongside reliable timekeeping, remains essential. Permanent placement may follow a satisfactory trial period.

Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Forklift Driver / Overhead Crane Operator to join a busy steel manufacturing and engineering environment in Dudley.

The successful candidate will have previous experience handling steel and heavy materials, along with experience operating both a forklift and overhead crane.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period.

The Role

As a Forklift Driver / Overhead Crane Operator, you will be responsible for the safe movement, loading and unloading of steel, raw materials and finished products around the site.

Duties Will Include

  • Operating a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently
  • Operating an overhead crane to lift, move and position steel and heavy materials
  • Loading and unloading steel, sheet metal and other heavy materials
  • Moving raw materials and finished products around the factory
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
  • Supplying production areas with steel and materials as required
  • Storing steel and materials safely within designated areas
  • Using lifting equipment and attachments safely
  • Carrying out daily forklift and lifting equipment checks
  • Working closely with production and manufacturing teams
  • Completing relevant paperwork and stock movements
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Following all Health & Safety procedures and company policies

The Ideal Candidate

The Successful Candidate Will Ideally Have

  • Previous experience as a Forklift Driver, FLT Driver, Counterbalance Driver or Materials Handler
  • A valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
  • Previous experience operating an overhead crane
  • Experience handling steel, sheet metal or other heavy materials
  • Previous experience within a steel, manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or industrial environment
  • Confident operating forklifts around heavy and oversized materials
  • Experience loading and unloading steel and other industrial products
  • Good understanding of safe lifting and material handling procedures
  • Strong awareness of workplace Health & Safety
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team
