Forward Deployed AI Engineer
Forward Deployed AI Engineer
Role Description
This is not a consulting role, a project delivery role, or a research position.
A Forward Deployed AI Engineer is a production engineer embedded inside a client’s enterprise, working side by side with their teams. Their responsibility is to make complex AI platforms work in real, messy organizational environments. They own outcomes—not delivery milestones—such as:
- Time-to-value
- Adoption
- Reliability
- Scalability
The market is recognizing what leading technology companies have already demonstrated: AI products fail not because the models are weak but because deployment is broken. The gap between a successful AI pilot and a scalable enterprise AI capability is bridged by engineers who can translate platform capability into measurable business value within a real organizational environment.
This role forms the execution spine of Accenture’s Reinvention Deployment Engineering pods, which are building the largest Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) capability in the services industry. Engineers hired at this stage will influence the evolution of the role and tackle the most complex enterprise AI challenges across every industry.
Key Responsibilities
-
Own full programme delivery:
- Lead enterprise AI platform deployments across complex, multi-stakeholder environments (e.g., working with Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, SAP, or Palantir).
- Oversee the entire lifecycle: architecture to adoption.
-
Achieve programme-level delivery outcomes:
- Time-to-value, reliably hit adoption velocity, scalability across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Outcomes tied to commercial metrics.
-
Drive rapid experimentation:
- Translate ambiguous business problems into production systems in weeks—not months—across complex enterprise landscapes.
-
Architecture & governance:
- Design and implement AI solutions across the full technology stack, including:
- Identity
- Data
- Security & governance
- Platform layer
- Multi-system workflow integration (at programme scale)
- Design and implement AI solutions across the full technology stack, including:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
