Forward Deployed Engineer - Agentic AI

Role
We’re working with a well-funded, early-stage AI company building an agentic operations platform that automates complex, broken processes inside major enterprises.
Backed by a multi-million seed round from top-tier investors, the company is already working with significant enterprise customers across operationally complex industries.
They’re now looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to own customer deployments from initial discovery through to production.
This is not a pre-sales or advisory role. You’ll embed directly with customers, understand how their processes actually work, identify what should be automated or redesigned, and then build and deploy AI agents that operate against real enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
- Own AI deployments from initial customer discovery and scoping through build, integration and go-live
- Map complex operational workflows and identify where AI agents can create measurable value
- Design and deploy production agentic workflows using LLMs, tools, APIs and enterprise data
- Integrate agents with existing systems including ERPs, internal platforms, databases, spreadsheets, email and third-party APIs
- Write hands-on integration and automation code using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL and APIs
- Build robust decision logic, exception handling, fallbacks and human-in-the-loop workflows
- Develop and improve prompts, evaluations and agent behaviour
- Debug live production deployments and iterate based on real-world performance
- Run technical working sessions with customer stakeholders and challenge requirements where necessary
- Turn successful deployments into reusable patterns, templates and implementation playbooks
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to feed customer requirements back into the core platform

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of relevant software, AI or technical delivery experience
- Strong experience building and shipping AI or automation systems into production
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, agent frameworks, prompt engineering and evaluation
- Experience integrating AI systems with APIs, tools and existing enterprise software
- Strong Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and/or SQL skills
- Comfortable owning the full technical delivery lifecycle rather than handing implementation to another team
- Proven ability to work directly with customers and translate messy business processes into technical solutions
- Experience debugging and improving live production systems
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior customer stakeholders
- Comfortable travelling regularly to customer sites across the UK and Europe during active deployments
