About This Role
You’re the Forward Deployed Engineer—an experienced Technical Builder who designs, builds, and deploys agentic AI solutions directly into enterprise customer environments.
As part of a cross-functional Delivery team, you’ll partner with a Deployment Strategist (a customer-facing advisor who shapes AI strategy and drives adoption). Together, you’ll co-build solutions that ship into production from the first day.
These engagements could range from a single strategic customer to managing multiple deployments simultaneously. Whether engaging with a Fortune 50 company or a cutting-edge startup, our focus is delivering real code, with real impact across configuration, customisation, and full-stack deployment—solutions that customers depend on.

What You’ll Build
Forward Deployed Engineers develop AI agents and experiences that automate real decisions for ever-larger customers. What you’ll create:
- Design agent intelligence with prompts, tool calls, and multi-skill integration.
- Build and deploy AI-powered agents capable of real-world tasks like:
- Analysing enterprise data
- Automating communication workflows
- Handling API exchanges
- Responding to real-time support queries
Leading principles for Agentforce Shipping principle: groups customers and their paces. Design patterns that scale.
Build with flexibility, but always with a backdoor: models may never be perfect, so input validation and tool chaining will be built for reliability.

- Design agentic workflows beyond simple LLM interactions.
- Deploy solutions to cloud environments (Snowflake, Databricks, Data 360) and integrate with customer data pipelines.
- Validate code through production dashboards, KPI reporting, and observability tools.
- Collaborate with customers on PoCs and MVPs for projects that iterate fast, with demonstrable customer impact.
- Improve operator workflows.
- Navigate agentic software through closing the loop, from demand to delight—taking complaints or queries effectively.
- Drive a culture of Schrödinger’s expertise: technical leaders can step in if needed, but encourage your technical teams to deliver.
- Improve each customer relationship as the team leaves wiser.
Successful deployments are the pieces that help it. Your field feedback on promising concepts, often raw and rough shared directly with product.
- Travel and ship beside customers (25% onsite). Collaborate with deployment strategists to translate business challenges into concrete solutions.
- Innovative, divergent ideas defuse shortsighted practicality. We push comfortable current solutions for now’s best.
Who You Are
You fit this role if:
Essential Criteria
✅ 3+ years of software engineering or technical delivery — experience where you can walk through a production system you’ve built/completed, preferably with: - AI stack (LLM interactions, orchestration, LLM integration, reasoning pipelines) - Full-stack development (Python, JavaScript, Java, Salesforce) - Quality technical rigor—both in coding and evaluation of agentic system outputs
✅ Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) ✅ Prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services, forward deployed engineering, etc)
- This is critical; not just a test—it’s about collaborative problem-solving in real time.
✅ Fluency in at least one of the following technical stacks:
- Python
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- Java
- Salesforce Apex
✅ So strong in LLMs & prompt crafting that:
- You can diagnose an inefficient prompt.
- Explain why it failed and how it can be refined (or eliminated entirely).
- Distinguish between abstract competence and deep knowledge, treating LLMs as tools to be mastered—not worshipped.
✅ Deep grasp of data architecture, APIs, and integrations—a developer who builds (as well as uses) APIs into systems.
✅ Comfort talking squad to squad and crossing disciplines:
- Listen with sales teams and customer architects and translate their needs into feasible technology outcomes.
✅ Code’s your playground, solutions are purposeful and
- ARCS models to prioritise documentation, education, app flows, and customer success
- Write software that trades database operations for duty-of-care moments or the space to context shifts.
✅ Eager to stay ahead of AI trends and manageable risks that risk asking:
