Description
We build AI agents that run real operations for real businesses and we operate what we deploy. Forward Deployed Engineering is Rightbrain’s deployment arm: embedded in a client’s problem, building, deploying and operating AI agents in production on top of the Rightbrain platform.
You’ll be the second person on the team, working directly with the Head of Forward Deployed Engineering, and you won’t be the last teammate: we deliberately scale with human-in-the-loop automation and specialised AI agents embedded in our own Slack, email and delivery pipeline. Part of your job is working with, and eventually helping run, that hybrid human-and-agent team.
What you'll do
- Build and test agents: take client briefs through our delivery pipeline, build on the Rightbrain platform, run structured eval testing against real payloads, and ship to production
- Own production: you’re first responder for live client agents. Read run traces, debug, fix at the agent level, and hand completed agents over to clients cleanly
- Run client relationships: demos, walkthroughs and check-ins, growing into owning named client accounts within your first few months
- Feed the roadmap: you’re closest to how agents behave in production, so your signal shapes what gets built next
- Automate your own job: our delivery pipeline is progressively automated, built on the Rightbrain platform itself. Over time you’ll do less hand-building and more QA, production ops and orchestrating the agent teammates that do the repetitive work

Who you are
- A technically minded operator with years of making technical products work for clients: you ship with tools, APIs and AI rather than raw code
- Already building with AI tools in your own time. This is the non-negotiable: show us something you’ve made
- Comfortable with APIs, JSON, webhooks and logs: you can read a failing run trace calmly and work out what happened
- Client-presentable: you write clearly, demo confidently, and know when to say “I’ll take that away” instead of improvising
- Meticulous: you check the output, not the green tick

What this role is not
- Not pure software engineering: you won’t be writing services from scratch (if that’s what energises you, you’d be bored here)
- Not project management: no Jira-shepherding or status theatre, you build and operate
- Not platform support: that’s a separate function
Package and practicalities
- £70,000 - £80,000 depending on experience
- Share options, awarded on performance
- Delivery commission once you lead client accounts
- Remote (UK) with quarterly team days in Newcastle, travel and hotels covered; London co-working available
- Full-time employee role: applicants must have the right to work in the UK
