Forward Deployed Engineer
📍 Shoreditch, London | 5 days onsite
💰 £100,000–£160,000 + equity
The Role
We’re working with a fast-growing, venture-backed AI software company looking for exceptional Forward Deployed Engineers to join its London team.
This is a hands-on software engineering role for someone who wants to work directly with major enterprise customers, understand complex real-world problems and then build the software that solves them.
You’ll own deployments from the first customer conversation through to production. That means understanding how customers actually operate, deciding what needs to be built, writing the software and iterating based on how it performs in the real world.
You’ll work across the full stack, including frontend, backend, data and AI-powered functionality, while feeding what you learn from individual deployments back into the core product.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with enterprise customers to understand complex operational workflows
- Own customer deployments from initial scoping through to production rollout
- Design and build full-stack software around real customer problems
- Work across frontend, backend, data models and AI/LLM-powered functionality
- Build systems that extract structure and intelligence from complex documents and unstructured data
- Turn customer-specific solutions into reusable product capabilities
- Work closely with founders and senior engineers to influence the wider product
- Review real-world outputs and improve accuracy, reliability and usability
- Make independent engineering and product decisions in a high-ownership environment
- Ship production software quickly and iterate based on real user feedback

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
