Forward Deployed Engineer - AI for Finance
The company
Our client is a fast-growing AI for Finance company building agentic AI products for banks and private equity firms. Its platform automates the high-value, analyst-heavy work behind deals, investment decisions and client coverage.
The business is backed by one of Europe's leading venture capital firms and is scaling quickly across London, Europe and the US. It sells to some of the most demanding buyers in financial services, and its team combines senior finance practitioners with top-tier AI engineers.

The role
Forward Deployed Engineers sit between the product and the client. You will work directly with banks and PE firms to deploy the platform, build custom agentic workflows on top of it, and turn what you learn in the field into product.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with real commercial exposure. You will own technical outcomes at flagship accounts, working alongside deal teams, CTOs and heads of innovation at some of the world's leading financial institutions.

Location: London, hybrid, with client travel
Type: Full-time, permanent
Key responsibilities
Deploy and build
- Lead technical deployments at bank and PE clients, from scoping through go-live
- Build production-grade agentic workflows, integrations and data pipelines on top of the core platform
- Connect the platform to client systems, including data rooms, CRMs, document stores and market data providers
- Write clean, well-tested code in Python and TypeScript

Work with clients
- Partner with deal teams, investment professionals and client engineering teams to understand their workflows in depth
- Run technical workshops, demos and pilots that move accounts from trial to enterprise contract
- Handle security, compliance and infrastructure requirements typical of regulated financial institutions
Shape the product
- Feed field insight back to product and core engineering, and turn repeatable custom work into platform features
- Evaluate and improve LLM performance on real client tasks, including prompting, retrieval and evaluation frameworks
About you
This role is for exceptional engineers only. The bar is set by the calibre of the team and the clients it serves.
Essential
- 5+ years' software engineering experience at a tier 1 technology company, AI lab or high-performance finance firm. Examples include Palantir, Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, Databricks, Jane Street or top-quartile venture-backed scale-ups
- Top academic record: a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar from a leading university such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, ETH Zurich, EPFL, MIT, Stanford or equivalent
- Strong full-stack skills in Python and TypeScript, with production experience on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs: RAG, agents, tool use and evaluation
- Confident in front of senior, demanding clients; able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
- High ownership and speed: you ship, and you take responsibility for the client outcome

A real bonus
- Forward deployed, solutions engineering or client-facing engineering experience, ideally at Palantir or a similar model
- Domain knowledge of investment banking, private equity or capital markets workflows
- Founder or early-stage startup experience
- A postgraduate degree, competitive programming record or notable open-source work
