Forward Deployed AI Engineer | Energy & Commodities | London | £150k + Bonus
RJC is partnering with a leading global energy and commodities business that's investing heavily in AI adoption. Working closely with traders and commercial teams, they are looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to identify high-value opportunities and taking AI solutions from concept through to production.
Role Overview
The role requires an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer with a strong background collaborating with senior stakeholders to sit at the intersection of AI, engineering and trading. You will be expected to take ownership of AI adoption across areas including commodity pricing, market analysis, trade flows and operational optimisation in a fast-paced trading environment.

Responsibilities
- Working directly with traders and commercial teams to identify AI opportunities
- Building and deploying agentic AI solutions from prototype to production
- Developing LLM, RAG, NLP and forecasting solutions
- Building integrations, data connectors and tool-calling capabilities
- Translating commercial problems into scalable technical solutions
- Working with core AI and engineering teams to productionise successful solutions
Requirements
The ideal Forward Deployed AI Engineer will have:
- 3+ years' experience in software engineering, AI/ML, data science or a related field
- Strong Python development skills
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG and/or agentic systems
- Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS
- Strong communication skills and genuine interest in commodities, energy or financial markets
