About The Opportunity
Join a specialist engineering enablement team within a global investment bank that is transforming the way software is built, tested and deployed across the organisation.
Rather than developing a single application, you'll embed with engineering teams to modernise their software delivery practices, improve release cadence and help them adopt world-class engineering standards. This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you'll solve real engineering problems by writing code, building automated tests, implementing CI/CD pipelines and improving application security and reliability.
If you're passionate about software craftsmanship, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering and developer experience, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact across mission-critical enterprise platforms.
The Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll partner directly with development teams that are facing challenges around software delivery, release automation or application modernisation.
Approximately 70% of your time will be spent writing code and configuration, helping teams improve everything from automated testing and dependency management through to deployment automation, observability and platform resilience.
This role combines Software Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems while helping other engineering teams become more effective.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
