Forward Deployed Product Engineer
Strategic Blue is looking for a Forward Deployed Product Engineer to turn customer needs into practical, scalable product capabilities. Sitting at the intersection of customers, cloud technology, product, and AI-enabled development, this role combines technical credibility, product thinking, and sharp communication skills.
You will work directly with customers and our Account Management team to understand complex problems. Using our Innovation Environment and AI-powered development tools (such as Kiro), you will rapidly prototype and build initial capabilities to address those problems. Your goal isn't one-off custom fixes—it is to build reusable, scalable solutions that can be iterated on across Strategic Blue and our client base.
While grounded in a strong technical foundation (particularly AWS), this is not a traditional hands-on engineering or Solutions Architect role. Instead, you will act as the bridge between technical and non-technical teams, using your expertise to solve problems, coordinate technical work, and act as a trusted technical contact.

Location: London (in Paddington office 3 days a week, 2 days can be remote)

What you will be doing:
Customer Discovery & Problem Solving
- Join customer meetings to provide deep technical expertise and uncover underlying business challenges.
- Translate customer use cases and preferences into clear technical and product requirements.
- Act as a technical sounding board for Account Managers, helping them understand possibilities and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Identify recurring patterns across customer requests that can be turned into repeatable capabilities.

Innovation & Prototyping
- Rapidly prototype new solutions in Strategic Blue’s Innovation Environment using AI-assisted development tools like Kiro.
- Apply software development principles to build sensible, high-quality initial versions of products.
- Test ideas, gather real-world feedback from internal teams and customers, and iterate quickly.
- Upskill and support colleagues in leveraging Kiro and our AI development tools to scale internal efficiency.
Product Collaboration
- Feed insights, themes, and prototype outcomes directly into the wider product roadmap.
- Partner with the Product team to validate commercial potential and determine which experimental capabilities should become established products.
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a curious, commercially minded problem solver who thrives on turning ambiguous customer needs into tangible tech.
Requirements:
- AWS Expertise: Hands-on cloud experience with AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification (minimum required).
- Technical Depth: Solid understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure, security, and modern software development.
- Prototyping & AI: Hands-on experience building MVPs or internal tools, alongside a genuine passion for AI-assisted development and agentic coding.
- Customer-Facing Confidence: Ability to move effortlessly between developers, product leads, and clients, translating complex concepts into plain English.
- Product Mindset: Driven to create repeatable, scalable solutions rather than isolated fixes.

Desirable Experience:
- Multi-cloud/GCP/ Azure environments, APIs, and integrations.
- FinOps, cloud cost optimization, or cloud economics.
- Experience within an AWS Partner, SaaS business, cloud consultancy, or MSP.
- Advanced AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional).
- Exposure to technical project management or IT security frameworks (e.g., ISO).
