Forward Deployed Product Engineer

You’re technically strong. You understand AWS. You’re interested in AI.

But you also know that the best technical people are not the ones who simply sit behind a screen and build what they’re told.

You want to speak to customers. You want to understand what they are really trying to achieve. You want to take messy, imperfect requirements and turn them into something useful, scalable and commercially valuable.

That is exactly what this role is about.

We’re hiring the first Forward Deployed Product Engineer for a growing UK technology business operating at the intersection of cloud, AI and enterprise software.

Why you might want this role

You will sit at the intersection of customers, product and engineering.

  • You will work directly with customers to understand the queries, challenges and use cases they bring to the business.
  • You will then work out how those requirements can be applied to the company’s existing core product.
  • You will not spend your time building endless one-off solutions for individual customers.
  • Instead, you will help answer a more valuable question: How do we solve this customer problem in a way that strengthens the product?
  • That means you will have genuine influence.
  • You will feed customer insight back into the product team.
  • You will work closely with senior product leadership.
  • You will help shape how the core offering evolves.
  • And because you will be the first person hired specifically into this type of role, you will have the opportunity to help define what great forward deployed product engineering looks like within the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • You will present technical concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • You will operate comfortably across technical and non-technical conversations.
  • You will become a trusted technical voice in front of customers.
  • And you will bring energy, curiosity and ownership to a role that is still being shaped.
