Fostering Recruitment Officer
Croydon Council | Grade 8 | 36 hours per week
Croydon Council is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate Fostering Recruitment Officer to help us find more exceptional foster carers who can provide safe, nurturing and loving homes for Croydon’s children. Croydon’s Fostering Service is a fast-paced and exciting place to work as we continue to improve our support offer to Foster Carers.

You will be skilled at working creatively with colleagues to promote fostering across Croydon by facilitating events, providing information and maintaining accurate case records. You will also be key to supporting applicants through the assessment journey.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Energetic, proactive and motivated, with a willingness to try new approaches and take on challenges.
- Has an understanding of fostering, although training is provided.
- Passionate about making a difference to children and young people.
- Enjoys working in a large organisation.
- An excellent communicator who can inspire and positively influence others.
- Confident building strong relationships with Croydon’s diverse communities.
- Highly organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities.
- Creative and confident using events and community engagement to promote fostering.

- Able to maintain accurate and detailed records.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
