Founders Associate

Imperial College AI, and Robotics Spinout

Location: London, x4 days per week

Investment: seed-backed AI (£5M)

The Business

This is a seed-backed AI company working at the cutting edge of robotics. It was spun out of Imperial College London by a group of top PhD engineers, and in under two years it has raised £5m and won paying customers in safety-critical industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and energy.

The technology takes complex sensor data from industrial machines and turns it into live, useful insights, so manufacturers can check and improve their processes as they happen. The team is currently circa 10 people and building quickly.

The Position

You'll be the right hand to the CEO and CTO. It's a hands-on role for someone practical who's happy to muck in and get things done. This isn't a senior strategy position. You'll take ownership from day one, learn fast, and see the results of your work straight away.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This role is ideal for an early-career, high-energy generalist with around 1–2 years' experience, ideally in a tech or AI startup. We'd also love to hear from people at a VC fund (especially if you've reviewed pitch decks), or from banking, PE, or consulting, who now want to move closer to an operating business and help build an AI company from the inside.

You'll likely have:

  • Around 1–2 years' experience in a tech or AI startup, VC fund, bank, PE firm, or consultancy
  • Strong financial modeling and Excel skills
  • Experience with market research, and ideally pitch decks or investor materials
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and good presentation skills
  • The ability to juggle several tasks at once and stay organized
  • Good judgment with confidential information
  • A "no job too small" attitude, and comfort with fast-changing priorities
  • A genuine interest in AI, robotics, or deep tech
  • The right to work in the UK

What You'll Work On

  • Market research – Dig into markets, customers, and competitors to help the founders make better decisions.
  • Financial modeling – Build and update models for pricing, forecasting, and planning.
  • Fundraising support – Help prepare pitch decks and investor materials, and support the team through the next funding round.
  • Operational support – Help the founders and the business with whatever needs doing as it grows, from hiring and onboarding to tracking actions and setting up simple processes.
