Caruso is hiring a Founders Associate Intern to help supercharge new features and growth.
About Caruso
Caruso is a small startup on a mission to bring meaning back to language learning. Our goal is simple: help you learn so efficiently that you spend less time in the app, and more time speaking in the real world.
We believe conversational skills such as listening and speaking come first, that curiosity beats discipline, and that lessons should be built from real conversation, not gamified drills. We build for motivated learners who have a real reason to learn, such as family, travel, work, a life abroad.
On AI: we believe AI tools can make us dramatically more efficient, but efficiency means nothing without quality. Every lesson has to be accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate, and that takes human judgment. That's where you come in.

We're live on the App Store and Google Play with a handful of users, and we're solo-founder small: you'd be the first person to join, working directly with the founder — a Cambridge modern languages graduate turned software engineer. Your work will ship, and your opinions will shape the product.
What you'll do
- Create and quality-check AI-assisted lessons — you'll learn to work with AI tools properly, then use your judgment to catch what they get wrong
- Help strengthen and document our lesson-creation framework, so that great lessons become repeatable
- Test new lesson formats and ideas with real learners
- Contribute to social media and help tell the story of what we're building
You'll touch everything. That's the point of a founders associate role.
Who you are
- Proficient in a European language (B2 or above) — preferably studying it at a UK university, or an equally serious language learner with the track record to prove it
- Curious about startups and AI — no formal AI experience needed, though hands-on time with AI tools is a plus
- A fast mover, unafraid to voice opinions
- Organised and observant of the details others miss
- Teaching experience (or a PGCE with a language component) is a plus
- Social media experience is a plus

The details
- £20/hour, plus holiday pay
- Early September start (1 month internship working closely with the founder)
- Option to extend by mutual agreement, with flexible hours around your studies
- Hybrid in London (2–3 days a week in person)
