Founder's Engineer (Fractional opportunity, could lead to a permanent role)
London | Hybrid

This consultancy partners with venture-backed deeptech companies, helping them navigate one of the hardest challenges in innovation: taking breakthrough hardware from the lab into the real world. Working directly with founders, investors and technical teams, you'll tackle the highest-priority engineering and commercial challenges, helping de-risk scale-up and accelerate the path to market.
As a Founder's Engineer, you'll be a trusted technical partner to founders, taking ownership of critical deliverables, coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing technical risk and providing the experienced voice needed during high-pressure growth and fundraising phases.

We're looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience across at least two funding cycles within venture-backed deeptech hardware startups.
- Proven experience managing multiple technical and commercial interfaces across complex engineering projects.
- A strong understanding of the technology scale-up journey, including the documentation, governance, engineering standards and processes required to secure investment and achieve commercial deployment.
- The commercial awareness to translate seamlessly between founders, engineers, investors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying, commissioning, troubleshooting or operating first-of-a-kind hardware in live customer environments.
- Deep expertise in a core engineering discipline such as Process, Mechanical, EC&I or Systems Engineering, while being comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams.
