Founding Backend Engineer (Platform)

Time: Full-Time
Location: Remote (Latin America, Europe, Canada, United States, South Korea, or Singapore)
Compensation: $225,000 - $300,000/year USD + competitive equity
Visa Sponsorship: Not available

The Company

Our client is building a mobile-first crypto trading application for advanced, high-volume traders. Its focus is delivering a rich trading experience with reliable infrastructure, real-time market data, and responsive performance. You will join a small founding team and work directly with the founder and product lead to develop the platform from its earliest stages.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a hands-on Founding Backend Engineer operating at Staff level or above to build and own its platform backend. As one of three founding engineers, you will own the backend systems supporting data ingestion, processing, and delivery. A separate trading systems engineer owns money movement. Your initial focus will be integrating third-party data providers into a reliable backend that enables a fast launch. Over time, you will develop in-house capabilities, including blockchain indexing, and evolve the architecture to support substantial data volumes and sudden traffic spikes. This role requires broad technical ownership, independent decision-making, and the ability to deliver within a small startup team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
