Company: Magic MRI Ltd | MedTech Imaging Company

Role type: Full-Time

Location: London / Remote – UK. Must be able to travel

Who We Are

Magic MRI is an Imperial College London spinout, developed by academic co-founder Dr Mike Ristic, that uses the magic angle effect to make collagen-rich tissues such as ligaments visible in detailed 3D, which conventional MRI cannot do. The initial focus is knee imaging (ACL, PCL, meniscus) via a lightweight, point-of-care system. The science is validated by a recently published paper and an ongoing clinical trial, with early commercial engagement already underway. Magic MRI now needs someone who can take the technology from clinical validation to commercial scale, building a repeatable patient pathway and a scalable business model.

Cambridge Future Tech is an experienced venture builder focused on creating and scaling deep tech companies. We work hands-on with founders through the venture-building process, helping shape strategy, accelerate execution, and support company creation through the most critical early stages.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a co-founding CEO to lead Magic MRI from formation through to its first institutional funding round and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to join as co-founder of an early-stage start-up with the full backing of a venture studio. The role spans go-to-market strategy, clinical and commercial partnership development, regulatory navigation, management, and fundraising. It is best suited to someone who has operated at the frontier of the medical device, diagnostic imaging, or healthtech industry and is ready to lead an early-stage venture.

You will shape the company's strategic direction, secure investment, and turn breakthrough technology into a global commercial success. The right CEO will complement a co-founder who brings deep technical expertise with commercial drive, fundraising capability, and the energy to move at pace.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We're looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial leader who thrives under pressure, navigates uncertainty with confidence, and has a relentless drive to deliver results. If you have the ambition to extract maximum commercial value from a breakthrough technology, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with CFT and the founding technical team to define strategy, set milestones, and optimise the business model, including pricing strategy, operational efficiency, maintenance logistics, and customer retention.
  • Own the fundraising process end-to-end: investor targeting, pitch preparation, term sheet negotiation, due diligence management, term sheet negotiation, and ongoing shareholder communications.
  • Sell the Magic MRI vision credibly to both clinical/technical and venture/financial audiences.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with specialist clinics, medical teams, and research partners.
  • Own customer discovery and product direction by validating product-market fit, shaping the roadmap, and building early commercial traction through pilot deployments and commercial agreements.
  • Manage board/stakeholder relationships, and put in place the reporting rhythms needed as the business scales.

Skills & Requirements

  • Background in life sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Direct medical device or diagnostic imaging experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to navigate the commercial and regulatory complexity of medical device and diagnostic imaging organisations, and to secure clinical partnerships or pilot deployments.
  • Comfort operating in a capital-constrained early-stage environment: making decisions with incomplete information, moving fast, and doing the work personally alongside directing others.
  • Track record of raising early-stage capital across grants, strategic investment, or venture capital.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organisational and leadership skills
