this is initially an equity-only Founding CTO role, with market-rate salary expected after the current fundraise closes in Q3 2026.

About the Role

We’re helping an experienced founding team hire a hands-on Founding CTO / technical co-founder for an early-stage AI platform serving complex, highly regulated industries.

The team already has deep experience across financial services, fintech, AI, regulation and company building, and is currently at advanced stages of raising institutional funding.

A substantial product and proprietary technology base already exists. The opportunity is to inherit it, challenge it where necessary, and take full ownership of turning it into a secure, scalable production platform.

This is build now, lead later: initially highly hands-on, with responsibility for building the engineering organisation as the company grows.

The Product

The company is developing proprietary AI technology to automate and improve complex regulatory and compliance workflows. The platform combines specialist AI models, retrieval and embedding technology with leading commercial and open-source language models.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Stack

Python • FastAPI • PostgreSQL • ChromaDB • LangChain • Hugging Face • React • TypeScript • AWS

Exact stack alignment is useful, but technical judgement matters more.

You’ll:

  • Take ownership of the existing product, codebase and architecture
  • Decide what should be retained, refactored or rebuilt
  • Own backend, APIs, AI architecture and infrastructure
  • Translate commercial priorities into technical strategy
  • Support investor and customer technical conversations

You are:

  • A strong hands-on backend or full-stack engineer
  • Experienced with APIs, cloud infrastructure and data-intensive products
  • Comfortable with modern AI systems, including LLMs, retrieval and embeddings
  • Able to move an MVP towards secure, scalable production
  • Commercially minded and comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
  • Motivated by founder-level ownership, not simply a senior engineering title

Previous experience as a CTO, technical founder or engineering lead is valuable, but not essential. A strong senior engineer ready to make the step into founder-level responsibility could also be an excellent fit.

We offer:

  • Significant founding equity from day one
  • A genuine technical co-founder / CTO position
  • Market-rate salary following successful completion of the current funding round
  • The opportunity to build proprietary AI technology in a commercially valuable regulated market
  • Remote-first working
