About the Role

If you’ve worked in a startup before, loved the pace, the chaos and building alongside people who hustle, then this is the job for you.

No recruiters. We cannot sponsor visas at this stage.

You like small teams, big ambitions and being close enough to the action that your ideas can change what happens next. You want to build things, make decisions and have a meaningful stake in the result.

Flowstate is growing fast. Right now, our biggest bottleneck is engineering capacity. We need creative, high-energy engineers who bring their ideas to makes things happen.

We’re not hiring for a particular level or number of years on your CV.

Previous startup experience is essential. What matters is what you’ve built, how you think and how much responsibility you’re ready to take on.

You Know What You’re Signing Up For

You’ve seen priorities change after a customer call. You’ve shipped without a perfect brief. You’ve had to learn something quickly because there was nobody else to hand it to. You’ve felt the satisfaction of watching someone use something you helped bring into existence.

And you’d choose that environment again.

You’re creative, technically curious and commercially minded. You don’t need someone to break every problem into tickets. You can work out what matters, find an approach and get moving. When there’s a better idea, you bring it. When you disagree, you say so. Once we make a decision, you commit.

You’re also willing to put in the hard hours when needed. Important launches, customer commitments and production issues can mean longer days and occasional evenings or weekends. That’s part of the responsibility you’re choosing.

You want equity because you want to help build something valuable, not just collect another benefit.

What We’re Building

Flowstate puts AI to work so people can do more. We help businesses control their AI spending and build applications that take time-consuming work off their teams’ hands. Then we measure what it costs and what it changes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

That goes beyond giving someone a chatbot. We’re building a platform for applications that connect to company systems, gather information, carry out work and bring decisions to people for approval. The engineering spans AI agents, workflows, data storage, integrations and the interfaces people use to stay in control. Making those pieces work together reliably is the challenge.

We already have a substantial product to build on, and we’re growing fast. Our biggest bottleneck is engineering capacity, not a shortage of things worth building. There’s plenty still to invent, and you’ll help decide what comes next. We want your ideas and creativity, not just your ability to implement ours.

We’re backed by a16z Scout Fund, Ventures Together, Haatch and Openseed.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work directly with the founders and customers, taking problems from the first conversation through to production. You’ll help decide what to build, work across the stack and stay close enough to customers to see whether it actually helped.

One week, you might build an integration that unlocks a customer rollout. Another, you might rethink how we present a financial model or fix a pipeline that needs to handle significantly more data.

We expect you to spot opportunities as well as respond to requests. Creativity isn’t a bonus here. Finding a simpler approach, a better interaction or a possibility nobody else has considered is part of the job.

What You’ll Bring

You’ve personally shipped software to real users in a startup. You can explain what you owned, where you had to get creative and what you learnt when it met reality.

You have strong TypeScript skills and can deliver across the full stack. Our core stack includes Next, Redis, Postgres and GCP.

Experience with financial products, data-intensive applications, enterprise integrations or production AI would be useful. We also use Go, Swift, .NET, PyTorch and Docker, but we’re not expecting you to arrive knowing everything.

We care about strong fundamentals, good judgement and the ability to learn quickly. We’re open-source-first and favour common, portable tools.

How We Work

We’re a small team of ex-founders working from our central London office. Most of us are in most of the week. Life happens and we’re flexible when it does, but we want someone who enjoys building alongside the team in person.

We don’t have product managers or layers of approval. Everyone talks to customers. Everyone contributes ideas. Everyone owns outcomes.

We don’t run fixed sprints or lengthy planning cycles. We work out what matters, make a plan and execute in days rather than months.

What You’ll Get

A salary that reflects your contribution, meaningful early-stage equity and direct influence over the product, technology and company we’re building.

You’ll also receive 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, private health insurance, employer pension contributions, a cycle to work scheme, free breakfast and subsidised gym membership.

We’ll provide a new MacBook Pro, any tooling you need and Claude Code + ChatGPT with an unlimited budget.

Apply

Send your CV or LinkedIn profile and tell us about something you built at a startup. What did you personally own? Where you had to get creative? What happened once people started using it? A product, demo or code link is welcome. A cover letter isn’t necessary.

You must already be based in the UK and have the right to work here without sponsorship from Flowstate. We cannot sponsor visas. Do not contact us requesting sponsorship.

Recruiters and agencies: do not contact us. We will ignore you.
