About Nesti
Nesti is the AI-enabled workforce for UK estate and letting agencies. We build AI employees that automate various parts of an estate and letting agency, from handling inbound enquiries, tenant find, and driving net new business, through to property management leads, compliance, and broader operational tasks. Today, Nesti works with hundreds of estate and letting agencies across the UK and is scaling rapidly.
The estate and letting agency is one of the most labour-intensive markets in the country. Our goal is to make it AI-native.
Nesti is looking for a Founding Engineer to join the team and help build the next stage of the platform and agentic offerings.
The Role
This is not a role for someone who wants to own a small part of a large engineering organisation - you will be working across the entire product.
One day you might be building a new customer-facing product from scratch. The next, you could be working on infrastructure, fixing a database problem, improving an AI workflow, shipping an integration, debugging something with a customer or building an internal tool that removes hours of manual work.
We need someone who is comfortable taking a problem from a vague idea through to a deployed product that customers are using. You will be expected to make decisions, move quickly and take complete ownership of what you build.
There will not always be a detailed specification. Often the starting point will simply be a customer problem or an outcome we want to achieve. You need to be able to work out what should be built, build it, deploy it and make sure it actually works.
What You Will Do
- Own products and features end to end, from understanding the problem through to architecture, development, deployment and iteration.
- Work across frontend, backend, databases, infrastructure, integrations and AI systems.
- Build and ship new products quickly, often taking them from an idea to production yourself.
- Work directly with customers to understand problems, diagnose issues and turn their feedback into better products.
- Build integrations with external platforms and APIs.
- Design and maintain reliable backend systems, APIs and data models.
- Build high-quality customer-facing interfaces and internal tooling.
- Debug problems across the entire stack rather than stopping at the boundary of your particular area.
- Work on multiple problems simultaneously and prioritise based on what matters most to the business and our customers.
- Improve the reliability, performance and scalability of systems as Nesti grows.
- Help establish engineering practices and technical standards as the engineering team expands.
- Use AI extensively as part of how you build software and solve problems.

What We Are Looking For
We care much more about what you have built and owned than a particular number of years of experience.
- A strong track record of building and deploying real software products.
- Experience taking complete ownership of products or major features rather than only contributing to one part of them.
- Strong backend engineering skills, including APIs, databases, data modelling and production systems.
- Strong enough frontend experience to independently build polished, production-ready product experiences.
- Experience working with relational databases and designing systems around real production data.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and external systems.
- Experience deploying, monitoring and maintaining software in production.
- The ability to move comfortably between product thinking and engineering.
- Strong debugging skills and the willingness to investigate a problem wherever it leads.
- The ability to work directly with customers and explain technical subjects without hiding behind engineering terminology.
- Good judgement about when something needs to be engineered properly and when speed is more important.
- The ability to operate with very little structure or supervision.
- A bias towards shipping.
Experience building AI (agentic) products, automation systems, communication platforms or workflow software would be particularly useful, but it is not essential.
You do not define yourself as purely a frontend engineer, backend engineer or infrastructure engineer. You see a problem and work across whatever parts of the stack are necessary to solve it.

You are comfortable having several important things happening at once. You would rather take responsibility for an outcome than wait for somebody to write you a ticket.
You care about customers and want to understand whether what you built actually solved their problem. You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and correcting course quickly when necessary.
You enjoy the intensity of an early-stage company. Nesti is growing quickly, and the pace is high. This is not a standard 9-to-5 engineering role. There will be periods where important projects require more, and you need to be comfortable doing what is necessary to get them over the line. In return, you will have considerably more ownership, influence and responsibility than you would in a typical engineering role.
Technical Environment
You will be working in a modern full-stack environment covering:
- Modern React and TypeScript-based frontend development.
- Python-based backend services and APIs.
- PostgreSQL and modern managed database infrastructure.
- AI models, voice AI, embeddings and retrieval systems.
- Telephony, messaging and email infrastructure.
- Real-time systems and event-driven workflows.
- Third-party CRM and business software integrations.
- Cloud infrastructure, automated deployments and CI/CD.
- Testing, monitoring, analytics and AI evaluation systems.
You do not need to have worked with every technology we use. You do need to be technically strong enough to move across the stack, learn unfamiliar systems quickly and take responsibility for getting things working in production.
