Founding Engineer / Hands-On CTO - London - £200,000 + Benefits
We're partnering with one of the most exciting AI companies in the market. Having recently secured significant Series C funding, they're entering a critical phase of growth and are looking for a Founding Engineer / Hands-On CTO to help shape the next stage of their journey.
This is not a traditional leadership role.
We're looking for a builder. Someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves creating products from the ground up, and can balance deep technical excellence with business influence. You'll sit at the heart of the organisation, working alongside executives, customers, engineers, product leaders, and GTM teams to define what's next.
The Role
As a key technical leader, you'll lead and mentor a team of four Staff Engineers while remaining close to architecture, engineering decisions, and product development.
- You'll be the technical voice both internally and externally, influencing strategic direction, engaging directly with customers, and helping translate complex business challenges into innovative AI-powered solutions.
- This role offers an exceptional level of visibility and impact, with exposure to more than 100 stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Design, AI, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
