Role
We're looking for a backend-leaning Founding Engineer (0–7 years experience) who has shipped production software at a pedigreed company — FAANG, high-growth VC-backed startups (Series A+), or equivalent. You'll own projects end-to-end in a fast-moving, early-stage environment and help shape the core infrastructure that AI agents use to communicate and operate in the real world.
What You'll Do
- Build and design APIs and backend infrastructure that AI agents use to communicate, authenticate, and operate
- Own 0→1 projects end-to-end — from scoping customer requirements through system design to production rollout (e.g., IMAP integration, usage-based pricing systems)
- Work across the full stack (~80% backend, ~20% frontend/other), touching distributed systems, databases, and developer tooling
- Proactively pitch ideas — you're expected to bring product and growth thinking, not just execute tickets
- Be a frontline point of contact for customer feedback and support enterprise deployments
- Write clear, maintainable code and documentation while processing hundreds of thousands of emails per day

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- High agency — you bring ideas and drive execution without needing scope handed to you
- Strong communicator of tradeoffs, blockers, and technical decisions
