Role Description
As a Founding Engineer at Pecan, you will design, build, and maintain core product features, working closely with the founding team to make key architectural decisions.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Coding across the stack
- Reviewing code
- Improving reliability and performance
- Integrating third-party tools and data sources

You will translate user needs into technical solutions, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in London, where you will help establish engineering culture, processes, and best practices from the ground up.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering skills in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, or similar) and experience building production web applications.
- Experience with backend systems and infrastructure, including APIs, databases, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and application security.
- Ability to design and maintain scalable architectures, implement testing strategies, and ensure reliability, observability, and performance.
- Experience collaborating in small, early-stage teams, taking ownership of projects end-to-end, and making pragmatic trade-offs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfort working across the stack, including frontend frameworks, basic UI implementation, and integration with design systems is a plus.
- Professional experience is a plus, but not required as long as you can demonstrate impact.
