Spectrum Search is partnered with a well-backed AI developer technology company building cloud-based infrastructure for modern AI-assisted software engineering. The company is expanding its founding engineering team and is looking for a product-minded engineer to take significant ownership across the platform.
About the Opportunity
This is an early engineering hire within a small, founder-led team developing infrastructure for AI-native developer workflows. The role offers broad technical ownership across backend systems, frontend product development, and the underlying cloud platform.
You will work closely with the founding team, shaping both the product and technical architecture as the engineering function grows.
The Role
You will build and ship production features end to end, working across a TypeScript stack and cloud infrastructure. The role combines hands-on engineering with product ownership, including understanding user requirements, making technical decisions, and taking features from concept through to production.
The environment suits an engineer who has already shipped software within an early-stage or similarly high-ownership environment and is comfortable operating with limited process and significant autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship core product functionality across the full stack
- Develop production systems using TypeScript, with exposure to Svelte and Go
- Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, and Google Cloud Platform
- Improve backend performance, reliability, and the overall user experience
- Work on real-time and collaborative product functionality
- Own product areas from user requirements and technical design through to deployment
- Work directly with users and incorporate feedback into product development
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering standards as the team expands
- Use AI coding tools extensively as part of the day-to-day software development
Essential Requirements
- Strong production experience with TypeScript and full-stack product engineering
- Experience shipping meaningful features in an early-stage startup or similarly high-ownership engineering environment
- Practical experience using AI coding tools as a core part of the development workflow
- Ability to take technical and product problems from initial definition through to production
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design
- Comfortable working across backend infrastructure and user-facing product development
- Able to work in person in London on a daily basis
- Open to the possibility of relocating to San Francisco in the future

Nice-to-Haves

Location and Remote Setup
This is a full-time, on-site position based in London, with five days per week in the office. The company expects its core team may relocate to San Francisco in the future, so candidates should be open to potential relocation. Visa sponsorship and visa transfers are available.
