Founding Investment Non-Executive Director
House of Dogstar | UK-based | Manchester / UK | Part-time | Board-level
Help shape the future of investment in the creative economy.
House of Dogstar has recently launched as a new platform at the intersection of creative industries, capital and technology.
The UK creative economy is one of the country's most significant growth sectors, spanning film, television, gaming, music, theatre and other IP-led businesses. It is growing four times faster than the wider UK economy, yet significant barriers remain between creative businesses and the capital, expertise and networks they need to scale.
House of Dogstar is building to help bridge that gap.
Following the successful launch of Mythos Manchester in June 2026, which brought together producers, financiers, investors, creatives, brands and other leaders from across the sector, we are now building the next stage of House of Dogstar.
We are looking for an experienced UK-based investment professional to join us at board level as a Founding Investment Non-Executive Director.
The opportunity
This is an opportunity for someone with genuine investment experience to play a meaningful role in shaping a recently launched business and its investment proposition from an early stage.
We are looking for someone who can bring:
- Significant experience in venture capital, private equity, family offices, angel investment, growth capital or another relevant investment environment
- A strong understanding of how investors assess businesses, opportunities and risk
- Experience of deploying capital, rather than solely advising those who do
- An understanding of intellectual property, creative businesses or the wider creative economy
- A substantial network across UK investors, family offices, HNWIs, funds, corporates or other sources of capital
- The ability to help us develop a robust and credible approach to investment readiness, capital formation and investor relationships
- Sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to challenge constructively at board level
Experience across film, television, gaming, music, theatre, technology or other IP-led businesses would be particularly valuable, although it is not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About House of Dogstar
House of Dogstar is building a new platform for the creative economy, connecting creative talent, businesses, capital and opportunity.
Our focus is on creating better connections between the creative industries and capital, while providing the intelligence, relationships and infrastructure needed to help ambitious creative businesses grow.
We have already established a growing network across the creative and investment communities and are now building the platform and partnerships to take that further.
Why now?
The creative economy is changing rapidly.
New technologies, new distribution models and new forms of intellectual property are creating opportunities across film, television, gaming, music and beyond.
The sector is growing at four times the rate of the wider UK economy, creating a significant opportunity for investors, entrepreneurs and businesses that understand its potential.
At the same time, the gap between the scale of the creative economy and the capital available to creative businesses remains significant.
We are building the bridge between these worlds.
This is an opportunity to help build it.
If you are UK-based, have substantial investment experience, a strong network and a genuine interest in the future of creative businesses, we'd like to hear from you.
Please send a short note outlining your background, relevant investment experience and why the opportunity interests you.
Please note: This is a board-level recruitment opportunity. Any potential equity or financial participation would be discussed separately with suitable candidates and would be subject to appropriate legal and regulatory requirements.
