Founding Product / Platform Engineer
Location: Central London
Working Model: Onsite
Salary: Up to £130,000 + Equity
About the Role
We are working with an ambitious, high-growth technology company developing a browser automation platform used by global enterprises across financial services, insurance, and other highly regulated industries.
They are looking for a Founding Product / Platform Engineer to join the London engineering team and take significant ownership across the product and underlying platform. This is a backend-focused role with strong exposure to customers and product development.
You will work directly with customers to understand their challenges, shape product direction, and build reliable infrastructure capable of supporting mission-critical workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and evolve the core backend and platform infrastructure powering browser automation.
- Develop reliable systems for running secure, complex web-based workflows.
- Work across the product, contributing where required to backend services, desktop applications, dashboards, and infrastructure.
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and demonstrate new functionality.
- Take ownership of problems end-to-end, from customer discovery and technical design through to production deployment.
- Help shape the technical roadmap and product direction as the platform continues to scale.
- Solve novel engineering challenges where established patterns and best practices may not yet exist.
- Develop highly secure and reliable systems for enterprise customers handling sensitive workflows and data.

What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial software engineering experience, with a backend focus.
- Excellent experience with TypeScript and Python.
- Experience building and supporting production software used by real customers.
- Previous experience in a founding, early-stage, or highly autonomous engineering role.
- Experience working within a leading technology start-up, scale-up, or major technology company.
- Strong systems thinking and debugging skills.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and translating their problems into technical solutions.
- High level of ownership, autonomy, and ability to move quickly from problem identification to production delivery.
- Degree from a top-tier university.

Desirable Experience
- TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, and Electron.
- Browser extensions and browser automation.
- Puppeteer, Selenium, or similar browser automation technologies.
- Secure systems, zero-trust architectures, and end-to-end encryption.
- Identity and access technologies such as Okta, 1Password, Entra ID, or JAMF.
- Infrastructure as Code and cloud platform engineering.
