About LIVESYNC

LIVESYNC is building the technology that makes live events playable inside games. We take live motion and positional data from real-world sporting events, process it in real time and synchronise it with gaming environments so players can experience the live moment as it happens.

We are starting with sport and Roblox, with the ambition to expand across different entertainment industries and gaming platforms.

We are looking for a Founding Real-Time Systems Engineer to become one of our first core technical hires and take ownership of the infrastructure connecting the live event to the game.

The role

You will lead the development of LIVESYNC's real-time processing, networking and delivery architecture.

You will work with high-frequency live motion data, transforming and optimising it before delivering it reliably into gaming environments.

The challenge spans real-time state, networking, data processing, interpolation, buffering and resilience.

This is a hands-on founding role with future ownership. You’ll help shape the technical direction of the product as well as build it.

As we grow, you will help turn the first implementation into reusable infrastructure capable of supporting different types of data inputs and platform outputs.

What you'll work on

  • Support the design of LIVESYNC's real-time processing architecture
  • Build the systems to ingest and process high-frequency live event data
  • Build the systems for validation, transformation, interpolation and synchronisation
  • Build the networking and delivery layer between live data providers and games
  • Design for latency, reliability, failure recovery and scale
  • Develop secure, observable cloud infrastructure
  • Work closely with our games engineer to optimise the complete live event-to-game system
  • Design the architecture so new data types and platforms can be added efficiently
  • Contribute to technical decisions, documentation and future engineering hires

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for

You are an experienced engineer who has built real-time systems where timing, state and reliability matter.

You should have strong experience across several of the following:

  • Real-time or distributed systems
  • Multiplayer or game networking
  • WebSockets and high-frequency data
  • AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure
  • State synchronisation, buffering and interpolation
  • Backend development using technologies such as TypeScript, Go, Rust or C++
  • Performance, monitoring and production reliability

Experience with game server infrastructure, motion capture, sports tracking, telemetry, Photon or other live streaming systems would be particularly valuable.

We care more about the systems you have solved than whether your previous stack matches ours exactly.

The kind of person we're looking for

LIVESYNC is an early-stage startup and we want someone who wants to grow with it.

You should enjoy difficult technical problems, be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and be willing to challenge our assumptions when there is a better solution.

You will move between architecture and hands-on engineering, work directly with founders and technical partners and take genuine ownership of the systems you build.

We want someone interested in helping create not just the first LIVESYNC architecture, but the engineering organisation that develops around it.

Over time, this role has the potential to grow from building our first real-time architecture into owning multi-sport, multi-platform infrastructure and technical leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong Systems Engineering skills, including designing and implementing scalable, real-time backend services.
  • Experience with Systems Design, covering architecture for low-latency event processing and high-availability services.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex production issues, performance bottlenecks, and reliability problems in distributed systems.
  • Hands-on System Administration and Technical Support skills for managing servers, observability tooling, and deployment environments.
  • Experience with real-time networking (e.g., WebSockets, UDP), concurrency, and event-driven architectures.
  • Comfort with at least one modern programming language commonly used in backend game or real-time systems (e.g., C++, Go, Rust, Java, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, major cloud providers).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small founding team, take ownership of systems, and operate in a fast-evolving startup environment.
  • Prior experience in gaming, live events, or real-time streaming systems is highly beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
